Opening infected files that you receive via email can install unwanted and dangerous software on your device. Some files even contain malware that will lock you out of your device and demand a ransom in exchange for unlocking it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #333333;\">We don\u2019t want to see anyone at Simmons end up in these types of situations. Here\u2019s what we\u2019re doing\u2014and what you can do\u2014to stay safe:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"color: #333333;\">\n<li><strong>We adjusted<\/strong>\u00a0Gmail\u2019s spam filtering tool to enhance our ability to detect and quarantine spam and malware.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We are available<\/strong>\u00a0to help you identify potential problems with attachments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You should<\/strong>\u00a0be cognizant of who has sent you an email with an attachment and the name and file type of the attachment.\u00a0<strong>If it looks unusual or suspicious, don\u2019t open it<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You should<\/strong>\u00a0<a style=\"color: #06529e;\" href=\"http:\/\/servicedesk.simmons.edu\/articles\/index.php?action=showEntry&amp;data=4113\">install antivirus software<\/a>\u00a0on your computer.
