Starfish is a toolset for advisors and student support staff to better guide students in pursuit of their educational goals. We are preparing to launch Starfish for undergraduate students and our Nursing@Simmons and SocialWork@Simmons programs.<\/p>\n<p>Starfish provides advisors with critical information about their advisees\u2019 course of study and allows them to log notes, set up appointments, make referrals, and connect with the rest of a student\u2019s support network in a single, easy-to-use platform.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/technews.simmons.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/starfish-image-large-4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/technews.simmons.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/starfish-image-small-2.png\" alt=\"Starfish student advising system screenshot\" width=\"425\" height=\"280\" align=\"none\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" vspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Click to see full-size image<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As advisors and instructors begin to use Starfish in the coming months, students can expect:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advisors will have access to more information about your courses, academic plans, and performance<\/li>\n<li>Communications from faculty and staff, including:\n<ul>\n<li>Academic Alerts from faculty \u2013 early warnings and guidance on how to address potential issues<\/li>\n<li>Kudos for exceptional or improved performance<\/li>\n<li>Referral notifications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Faculty and staff will be better empowered to follow up on requests and help students identify and work through academic challenges<\/li>\n<li>Services Listing \u2013 find hours, location, and contact information for student support offices<\/li>\n<li>\u201cRaise Your Hand\u201d \u2013 when you have a specific question but aren\u2019t sure where to turn, use this feature to ask for help by topic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additional details and training materials about Starfish usage for faculty and staff are coming soon.
