They\u2019re expensive, they produce tons of plastic waste that ends up in landfills, and the manufacture and distribution of all those bottles\u00a0<a style=\"color: #06529e;\" href=\"http:\/\/pacinst.org\/publication\/bottled-water-and-energy-a-fact-sheet\/\">produces huge carbon emissions<\/a>. It\u2019s also\u00a0<a style=\"color: #06529e;\" href=\"http:\/\/news.nationalgeographic.com\/news\/2010\/03\/100310\/why-tap-water-is-better\/\">not really safe to reuse them<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #333333;\">At Simmons, we just made filling up your reusable bottle even easier. Across campus, you\u2019ll find new sensor-activated hydration stations. Just open your bottle, line it up, and fill it with\u00a0<a style=\"color: #06529e;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mwra.state.ma.us\/annual\/waterreport\/2014results\/metro\/boston.pdf\">safe, local tap water<\/a>\u00a0that\u2019s been named the\u00a0<a style=\"color: #06529e;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mwra.state.ma.us\/01news\/2014\/061014-clean-sweep.html\">best tasting in the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #333333;\">You\u2019ll find hydration stations in:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"color: #333333;\">\n<li>MCB (1st floor, East and West)<\/li>\n<li>Lefavour (Meyers Caf\u00e9)<\/li>\n<li>Library (1st and 2nd floors)<\/li>\n<li>Park Science Center (near S183)<\/li>\n<li>School of Management (2nd floor)<\/li>\n<li>Palace Road (2nd floor)<\/li>\n<li>Sports Center (locker rooms, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, and pool deck)<\/li>\n<li>Dix Hall (1st floor)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"color: #333333;\" src=\"http:\/\/technews.simmons.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/fountain-1.jpg\" alt=\"Hydration station water fountain\" width=\"225\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" vspace=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #333333;\">Not only will the hydration stations reduce waste on campus and save you money, they\u2019ll also allow us to monitor the success of this effort.
